There a strong root of feminist in the way they see males...
There is a continum of "let's change males, so they are more compationed, so we can accept them".
One website you cite even say "a new masculinity where men causes less harm and feel less pain" (sic!!).
It is condescending view of men. We care about men, not becuase of them, but because of women, or becuase we dont want them to be angry.
This view is lost, and we shall reject this view.
Men need to be men.
We compete.
We even surpass women: even now, where the state invests billions in women (more education, more public positions for women) the gender gap continues to be in favour of men. Without any help, without any support, men always surpasse women.
Not becuase they are better (they might be better in certain things), BUT because they dont have any support.
It is the lack of support what makes men better: we do not have any "Plan B". Not the state, not women.
We just need the State to stop helping women. Stop discriminating men. Stop devoting 1000 of millions of dollars to women. Either directly (women programmes) or indirectly (more education, more public possitions).
If women and men receive the same amount of public funding, men will not longer have any issue.
And of course, we need to allow mens spaces again.
Personally, I don't think we "need the state to stop helping women." I think targeted supported of all kinds of populations are needed. There are areas where women need help. There are areas where men need help. There are areas where girls need help, where boys need help.
I cite a wide variety of websites b/c I want to bring readers news & viewpoints from all over. I believe we can most effectively help boys when we are aware of the conversations and thinking about boys & men.
I dont think the Government is here to "equalize" people. This is not only ineffective, but bad itself.
There are different behaviours in the society. And thats is good. Not all people has to have the same outcome: and things tend to equalize by themselves.
A huge mistake is to avoid the freedom of people.
Imagine that boys struggle. As a father of a girl and a boy I am putting now more effort in my boy (as many other parents are), as I percieve that he Will have things more complex in the future. So things Will equalize
The Government "equalizing women in the Jobs place" has lead to "boys not being equalized in the education". The second was irrelevant... Until the Government decided to move things in favour of women, this creating a counter dissdvantage.
Everytime the Government fix something, It created another injustice because It is imposible to equalize all varibles.
The Government shall ensure that the Government treats both men and women equally (corrently, the Government treats women better in all countries), but, after that, no firther action is disarable or even legitimate.
Welcome, and thanks for the kind reply! I know I really didn't address your actual article in the comment, but rather ranted a bit a out the cruel, cruel world in general (sorry about that!) But that is sort of a pet peevee for me (and here I go again). Anyway - I enjoy your articles (your audiobook is downloaded and ready to go - but news seems to get in the way (crazy world!). Take care!
I have to agree with PR here, these articles all seems female-coded.
And that is a problem if one is looking to reach boys and men.
I believe most of the ailements facing boys and young men today stems not from the wrong kind of masculinity, but from an abscence of masculinity in their environment, at home, in school.
Understanding boys as underdeveloped girls and projecting the same emotional wants and needs onto to the boys is, I believe, counter productive!
Let the boys lift, and compare calves, (they're gonna measure and compare something even more "problematic" in a couple of years, anyways.) Boys will compare and compete - the cool thing is, they can still be friends after the competing is done. They are just looking for their place in the hierarchy.
Thanks for your input, Ole. I much appreciate it! Your 2nd sentence & last paragraph really struck a chord with me. The 2nd sentence because I'm *not looking to reach boys & men via this newsletter or my other "boy work." My audience -- the people I am trying to reach and help -- are the adults working with & parenting boys. That's why I think it's so important to share info from a wide variety of sources b/c this is what is out there, this is the conversation & discourse, this is what's happening in & around our boys' lives. These are the forces that are shaping the world they and their boys are living in.
The last paragraph struck me b/c -- yep! That's exactly what boys do & part of what I love about them. :)
Most of the citations are feminists websites.

The problem is that some sources are not there to help, but to create a narrative (which is false in most cases).

Just to be more clear on my argument: I dont give the Government the legitinacy to act in favour of some groups against the others.
Society created the Government. Not the other way around.
I like your points. Very well thought out. Thanks for sharing.
If this is to me, thank you
